  • What is the difference between a standard base, solid base, and mortar base?
There are three types of bases- Standard, Solid, and Mortar. Solid and Mortar bases are always considered "custom". There is no significant price difference between a standard or custom base, the only major price jump you will see is the material cost- whether you are getting marble or granite in any solid surface material. A standard base comes in a range of sizes and drain locations based on common sizes. These bases have a 5" tall 4" deep integrated curb and drywall lip on all 4 sides of the base. This type of base cannot be modified in any way. Solid Bases are 1.5" thick, sit directly on the subfloor, and are available in custom sizes. Curbs are loose and added separately and can be modified by your contractor based on your preferences. These bases, however, are only available with a center drain. Mortar Bases are 3/4" thick and are available in custom sizes with complex design capabilities, offering offset drain locations, in either center or center 3rd of the base itself. All bases have a nonslip texture applied and are always pitched for proper draining.

  • What is Showerguard and Aquaglide? Why should I consider it?
Keeping your new glass shower enclosure in pristine condition is important. Keep the new luster while reducing spotting, soap scum, and mineral deposits with the use of ultra-protective coatings available from Basco. These specialized formulas use variations in breakthrough technology to ensure your beautiful shower door will stay like new with a clean that lasts. There is no need to use a squeegee or harsh chemicals. Cleaning is as easy as spraying the door with water and towel drying after each use. Basco offers two options in glass protectants – AquaGlideXP and Guardian ShowerGuard AquaGlideXP is an ultra-protective coating that bonds to the glass, repelling moisture and soap film. When the glass is treated with AquaGlideXP at the factory, this glass protection system carries a 10-year warranty. Showerguard is a film baked onto the glass before it is tempered that permanently protects from the etching of the glass, preventing permanent water stains. When registered, installed, and regularly maintained according to Guardian's recommendations according to water type, Guardian ShowerGuard glass is backed by a lifetime warranty.
  • How do I clean my shower surfaces?
We recommend Scrubbing Bubbles to clean granite or marble shower walls, bases, and other surfaces. For Basco shower doors, if you have Aquaglide added to your door, you can only clean with Maintain Cleaner by Basco, which is available for purchase online and in-store. Any other cleaner will damage the glass. If you have Showerguard added to your Basco door, you can use any cleaning product for your door. However, we still recommend Maintain shower cleaner or Windex.
  • What Services Do You Offer?
Agean only provides materials for your project. We do not offer plumbing, installation, electrical services, or cutting the material. If you need a contractor, we are happy to recommend one to you.
  • How long does it take to get my materials?
For marble and granite materials, it typically takes a few weeks for us to manufacture your products. When ready, you can pick up your materials on weekdays between 9am-3:30pm, or have them delivered. For shower doors, base and wall materials need to be installed for a measure request to be submitted. Once measured, we will send you a quoted price. After you approve the quote and pay in full, it typically takes 3-5 weeks to manufacture and install your new door. This entire process can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks.
